How to Hire a Videographer in Carlow, Waterford or Kilkenny

Hiring a videographer feels like it should be simple. You find someone, you pay them, they turn up. Then you realise nobody has agreed what you’re getting, and the film arrives six weeks late with sound like a tin can.

It doesn’t have to go that way. This is how to book a videographer for hire in Carlow, Waterford or Kilkenny without the headaches.

Start with what you’re filming

Different events need different skills. A wedding videographer thinks in chapters across a long day. A school production videographer thinks about stage angles and sound. A corporate videographer thinks about what the marketing team will use afterwards.

O’Neill Wedding Videos covers weddings, school events, concerts and corporate events, so check our services page to see whether your event fits.

Where to look for a videographer for hire

Directories are fine for a shortlist. They’re unreliable for deciding. Anyone can build a good listing page.

Better signals are reviews from real clients, a showreel of the type of event you’re planning and a straight reply when you call. Our reviews are public, and the showreels show actual finished work.

What to ask before you book a videographer

Can I see a full film?

Highlights flatter. A full edit shows whether sound and camera work hold up for the length of an event.

What exactly will I receive?

Format, length and delivery date. USB, DVD, digital download, or all of them. For weddings we deliver on USB or DVD plus digital delivery.

Have you filmed here before?

You want someone who knows how local venues behave. We’ve worked across Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Waterford and Wicklow for over twenty years.

What happens if something goes wrong?

Ask about backup equipment and contingency. A professional answers immediately. A hesitant answer tells you plenty.

How far ahead should you book?

For weddings, twelve to eighteen months is our recommendation. For other events, as early as the date is confirmed. Popular dates disappear, and a videographer who’s free on a quiet Tuesday doesn’t tell you much about availability on a summer Saturday.

Book a videographer in Carlow, Waterford or Kilkenny: the steps

Step	What to do
1	Confirm your date and venue
2	Decide what you want filmed
3	Contact two or three videographers
4	Ask your questions and compare answers
5	Confirm in writing what’s included
6	Pay the deposit and mark the date

That’s it. Six steps, and most of them take a single phone call.

About price

Resist choosing on price alone. We don’t publish a flat rate for every event because the work varies, but for weddings you can see exactly what each package includes. For anything else, we quote per event.

Cheap isn’t always poor, and expensive isn’t always good. Compare what’s included line by line, and pay attention to sound.

Travel

We’re based in Wexford Town and regularly film in Carlow, Waterford and Kilkenny. Gorey, Enniscorthy and New Ross are routine too. If your venue is outside that area, ring us. We’ll consider the right job.

What to do after you hire

Send your running order, key names and anything you absolutely want filmed. Tell the venue. Then relax. A good videographer asks for what they need and gets on with it.

The short version

Know what you want filmed, ask about audio and delivery, check reviews and a showreel, book early and get everything in writing. We cover Carlow, Waterford and Kilkenny from our base in Wexford.
